When people think of exercising outdoors probably the first thing that comes to mind is walking, jogging or running on a local high school track or around the neighborhood.  Yes all three of these are great options for outdoor exercise but with many communities installing walking, jogging paths throughout their towns this type of exercise can be a good work out as well as an enjoyable afternoon in nature.

Lose Weight Exercising Outdoors
Why stay cooped up in a hot stuffy environment like a gym when there are plenty of ways to exercise and lose weight enjoying everything the outdoors has to offer.  Take a trip to the local park or state park and spend time hiking the trails.  If you up to the challenge you can lose a lot of weight while bike riding.  Mountain bike trails in the parks make a great alternative to the stationary bikes that most weight loss clinics offer.  If your really looking for a strength building option try doing some rock climbing.  Almost all parts of the country have parks with areas that are well suited for the novice rock climber. WorkOut On The Beach- Tan and Trim at the same time.
Looking for other outdoor areas to workout where your not surrounded by the typical exercise and weight loss crowd?  Try taking your walking, jogging, bike riding along the beach.  Exercising on the beach in early mornings and late evenings is a great way to shed a few pound while enjoying the sound of the waves and relaxing feel of the beach.  If you dont live on the coat check out your local state parks or lakes.  Most everyone lives relatively close to some sort of beach environment if you really look for it. Take your exercise mat, ipod and sunscreen and spend some time burning calories on the beach you'll really enjoy it much more than the indoor weight loss facilities.

Back Yard Workout Burns Calories
Its amazing how many people pay for member ship fees to wieght loss clinics or fitness facilities when their own back yard is a gym in its own right.  You can't imagine exaclty how many calories you burn just doing your average yard work. Push mowing the yard will reall help shed the pounds, heck you might even voluntee to do the neighbors yard for a little extra workout.  Raking , weeding, and digging in the garden are also great exercise. All that bending, pushin, pulling really puts your body to the test.  So ignore those weight loss clinics and grab the mower, rake and shovel and get started.

Lose Weight Rowing
Have you ever thought about the amount of exercise you can get while your boating at the lake?  If you dont knee board, water ski, or wake board your missing out on some very good exercise.  Even if you dont do these types of water sports well you can still get a good workout just trying to get up behind the boat, if you don't believe me give it a try.  If that type of boating isn't your thing then give canoeing or a row boat a try.  Spend some time paddling around the lake in a paddle boat is another good way to get some exercise outdoors.  Anytime you combine water and body movement your guaranteed to get a good workout.
